İMDER- and İSDER BRIEF INTRODUCTION AND MAIN FIELDS OF ACTIVITIES

The board of Directors of İMDER -Turkish Construction Equipments Distributors and Manufacturers Association- aiming to serve the entire sector in the 7th year of its foundation and İSDER- Turkish Stacking Machinery Distributors and Manufacturers’ Association, which will celebrate its 3rd anniversary ,have resolved to found SECTORAL COMMITTEES in the below sub sectors, under the umbrella of IMDER and İSDER. İMDER, with its 43 members and İSDER with 28 members, are accelerating their activities geared towards the entire sector.

THE SECTORAL COMMITTEES WHICH HAVE BEEN/WILL BE FORMED UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF İMDER - İSDER:

Through the sector committee members, we can reach over 160 companies. 200 elite companies are represented by İMDER and İSDER Members and Sector Committees.

The main fields of activity of Turkish Construction Equipments Distributors and Manufacturers Association-İMDER, founded in 2002 and İSDER can be summarized with the following titles:

Ø  To increase the dialogue, activities, cooperation, coordination, meetings and efficiency between members,

Ø  To create a unity of forces in the sector, and to create a common and strong platform for all the construction machinery sector, in terms of all issues, platforms and recommendations for solutions,

Ø  To create and enhance the dialogue between the sector and the state, to prepare all the official communiqués, laws, legislation and standards that will be issued and to carry out joint studies,

Ø  Ensuring integrating with the EU and the world, and the sector and the state, and representing Turkey worldwide.

We all know the status that İMDER has attained in the eyes of the sector, of official authorities, of Europe and the entire world, as a result of the successes we have attained thanks to our working principles. As of 2007, the Turkish construction machinery sector had a trade volume of 5 billion TRY, and the domestic sales totalled to 3.5 million USD; exports, 941 million USD, and an investment volume of 1.6 billion USD. Currently, there are 550 companies in our sector, i.e., 100 manufacturers and 220 after market, employing 16,500 people.

·       This is one of the strongest NGO’s of the European Union representing 1200 companies from 12 European countries.

·       The only non-EU member country in the organization in which no non-members are accepted is Turkey.

·       Since 2006, membership with the CECE Steering Committee and the Presidents’ Committee. Attends meetings in Brussels every two months.

3.   FEM-EUROPEAN FEDERATION OF MATERIALS HANDLING Steering Committee Member, Brussels–Belgium -www.fem-eur.com (2006-…)

·       This is a very effective NGO within the EU, founded in 1953, with members of the strongest associations from 13 European countries.

·       Has a trade volume of 60 billion Euros, representing a giant sector with 1000 companies and 160,000 employees. We are the only country accepted for membership although we are not an EU member.

·       FEM Steering Committee membership since 2006.

·       ECED has members which are associations representing the construction machinery distributors of 11 countries, which are EU members, and since 2007, İMDER is a special member, as Turkey is not an EU member.

·       Since 2007, attendance in the ECED steering committee, general assembly and board of directors meetings.

·       Only the Foreign Trade Undersecretariat, Ministry of Industry and Trade and İMDER have been invited in the meetings held in Turkey. It is the final point resolving on the final status and the implementation of the new machinery legislation within the EU.
