-How many firms are have operations in Construction Equipments sector in Turkiye?

In TÜRKİYE Construction and Building equipments and machinery sector, there is approximately 550 firms, almost 100 manufacturer firms. Around 15,500 people are employed in the sector.

-By mentioning the size of he sector, can you explain its position in Türkiye’s economy?

Construction and building equipments and machinery sector, which operates in and gives services investment-oriented, constitutes approximately 2% of the Turkish economy. Constitutions that are members of IMDER are serving in Türkiye in 7 different geographical  districts with their district offices, dealers, web of service and spare parts to all their customers and users in the shortest possible time by giving support and service. For these purposes, the investments of our members continue increasingly.

Approximately 15,500 people are employed within the sector. By the year 2006, 600 millions USD export, approximately 1.6 billions USD investment of all sector, with average 2006 figures around 4,2 billions USD annual indorsement eventuated. World Construction Equipments  market size (new machines sales) composes annually an average of 85 billions USD, the altogether market comes into being above 200 billions USD.

TÜRKİYE Construction Equipments sector has become the 5th big market of Europe by the year 2006, when it was in 16th place in 2002 considering the size and sales figures. With the continuing economic stability, as a result of the investments realized every day, production and increasing volume of trade, as IMDER, we are planning to be the 5th big country in Europe 3 years, and to be in the first 3 big countries within 10 years. TÜRKİYE Construction Equipments industry has become the 10th biggest country of Europe considering the production volume and value.

-In 2006, by what percent the sector has grown and what do you aim at it to be by the end of 2007?

When we look at the comparison of the first 5 monthly figures of general sales of CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENTS sector, compared with the first 5 months of the year 2006, our sector has shown a growth of 10% percent. The continuity of this ratio was hope of all of us, but, since the two elections that will be held will have an little effect in our sector and investments and generally it is expected to be completed as -12% by the end of the year.  

  -What percent of the construction equipments used in Türkiye are imported?

Of the whole sector, the demand for construction equipments, 83% is met by the distributor firms whereas 17% is met by manufacturer firms. The distributor firms that are members of IMDER are working for the service of national economy by focusing their investments on product supply, sales, services after sale, storage of spare parts and on customer satisfaction.

-What percent is exported?

In TÜRKİYE, of the construction equipments produced in 40 years (Beko-loder, excavators, loaders and fork lifts) in accord with the 2006 figures, an average of 33% is exported, and the coverage of the whole manufacturing capacity of the average national demand is 70%. But our members do not work with full capacity. Export to around 50 countries 15 of which are US membersapproximatel 10.000 people are working in manufacturing industry. Also, home products usage in manufacturing of the Construction Equipments, usage of Added Value eventuates in the ratio of 61,5%. In the country, with around 220 supplier industry firms; by employing a total of 10.500 people in manufacturing industry, contributions are made to the national economy. Home manufacturer capacity usage ratio has been reaching 58.8%. Construction equipments manufacturing industry has an investment area above a total of 1.119.000m2.
